Informal ATLPHP Group Gathering Thursday, 15 February, 19:00 [message #959]

Currently we are scheduled for our informal meeting to be held at Octane on Thursday February 15.

Given the turnout for January's meeting I feel the need to gauge interest in this upcoming meeting and its location.

I would like to know what the interest level is for this February's meeting being held at Octane, as during the January meeting I was able to catch up on some reading and practice talking to myself Wink

I love the meetings and the venue, but it is quite a trek for me so showing up to hang out alone is not what I'd prefer to do (allowing myself to be a pinch selfish here).

I think contributing factors are:

1. Weather was really stinky that night
2. Any new members would not know how to recognize me, nor I them, so . . .
3. I neglected to start my 'cheerleading' post prior to the meet date so many may have forgotten.

JeffD has suggested a meeting with a northerly location (http://forum.atlphp.org/index.php/t/273/) and so my thought is that we can do one of two things:

1. Organize another date for a northern meeting.
2. Have the Feb 15 meeting in a northern location.

You will note that not having it is *not* an option as far as I am concerned Twisted Evil

Northern meeting needs location suggestions at a minimum at this time. Date/time will be determined once we get some feedback to this thread.

I'm typically up for the Octane meetups, but have missed a few due to unexpected things coming up at the last minute. Nothing personal, but I have to admit that if the location was much further than downtown-ish, I'm not likely to go, because I start to reach the point of being in the car round-trip for longer than I can spend at {location}, at least on a weeknight.

It certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings if you wanted to organize alternating locations for meeting or have an assumed "called on account of rain" or something.

Ugh. Just remembered that Thursday is my wife's and my "Valentine's Day." My parents volunteered to watch our newborn, and we're going out to a movie, so I won't make it again. Sad

Oh, well. I'm not really complaining, but it looks like I'll have to catch up with you all at the March meeting.

I see there are two maybes.

I'm not feeling particularly well today, so was going to pass myself if no one provided a firm RSVP but with two maybes I'm thinking I should go ahead and head down there this evening.

It is always worth it when folks do make the trip in. I *hate* when I have to miss our meetings.

well, the earache and I have decided to stay in tonight. If anyone else makes it, please let us know how it goes.

I'd like to go ahead and open some more serious discussion regarding a northly meeting and perhaps we can fit that in next week or the week after.
